The Emirates NBD Group signed the “Climate Responsible Companies Pledge” in the UAE, which was launched by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment.
As part of its ongoing commitment to achieving the goals of climate neutrality, the group is among the seventh batch of 15 institutions from the UAE, which have signed the pledge, and are committed to implementing the goals of reducing carbon emissions and adopting more sustainable ways in managing their operations, according to a timetable commensurate with the national path of climate neutrality. 2050 announced by the state.
The pledge was signed in the presence of the Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Maryam bint Muhammad Al Muhairi, in conjunction with the launch of the “11th National Dialogue for Climate Ambition” organized by the ministry under the slogan “Accelerators of Transformation to Carbon Neutrality in the Transport Sector” in cooperation with the “Emirates Driving Company”.
This initiative coincides with the “Year of Sustainability”, at a time when Dubai is preparing to host the meetings of the Conference of the Parties (COP28) this year.
The institutions signing the pledge are committed to measuring greenhouse gas emissions resulting from their work, reporting them with complete transparency, developing ambitious scientific plans to reduce their carbon footprint, and sharing these plans with the relevant government agencies to contribute to achieving the national goal of striving towards achieving climate neutrality by 2050. The institutions are also committed By managing climate change mitigation and adaptation within the core values and principles of its business and operating models, and adopting a comprehensive approach to involve youth, women and the most affected groups of society in developing its plans to strive for climate neutrality.
