Emirates Airlines considering additional Airbus A350 and Boeing 777X or 787 aircraft to prepare for future demand

Emirates Airlines President Tim Clark said today, Tuesday, that the company may order more Airbus A350 and Boeing 777X or 787 aircraft, as part of its efforts to prepare for expected demand during the next decade.

“We are looking forward to more A350s, Boeing 777-9s, and maybe 787s,” Clark told reporters on the sidelines of a global airline meeting.

He refused to disclose the number of aircraft being studied for addition.

“All I will say is that we are looking to buy a number of additional aircraft,” he said.

The Boeing 777X is a planned family of two large, twin-engined aircraft, the 400-seat 777-9 and the smaller 777-8.

The entry of these aircraft into service was delayed for several years amid issues related to permits and engine development.

Emirates Airlines cut its order size for 150 777X planes to 126 as part of a deal in which the airline ordered 30 787 Dreamliners in 2019.

In a speech in Istanbul on Tuesday, Clarke said “confidence may have increased a little bit” in Boeing’s ability to launch the new planes, adding that he expects to receive the first aircraft in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The Emirates Group had an annual profit of 10.9 billion dirhams ($ 3 billion), as the rapid recovery in travel from the pandemic-induced recession prompted the world’s largest long-haul airline to restore its network.

And “Emirates Airlines” said that it would pay its owner, the Investment Corporation of Dubai, cash dividends of 4.5 billion dirhams for the year ending in March 2022, in addition to early repayment of debts worth 3 billion dirhams, which it acquired during the epidemic.

For his part, Emirates Airlines Chairman Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said in a statement that “Emirates Airlines” expects to achieve profits for the second year in a row, in the fiscal year that began in April, according to what was reported by “Bloomberg”, and viewed by “Al Arabiya”. net”.

Demand for long-haul air travel has soared, as the lifting of travel restrictions imposed during the pandemic has given way to so-called revenge travel.

Emirates Airlines said in the statement that Dubai witnessed a 97% increase in the number of international visitors in 2022.

Emirates Airlines has a large number of late orders related to Boeing, especially the upcoming 777X, which it plans to enter into service from the summer of 2025, in addition to the Airbus A350, to be delivered starting in August next year.
