Emirate of Sharjah Consultative Council Elections: Preliminary List of Candidates for the Third Session of 2023

The Supreme Committee for the Consultative Council Elections of the Emirate of Sharjah revealed the preliminary list for the Consultative Council elections for the third session of 2023, including 195 male and female candidates, including 36 women.

The number of candidates in the city of Sharjah reached 94 candidates, including 75 males and 19 females. In the city of Al Dhaid, there were 18 candidates, including 15 males and 3 females. In the city of Khor Fakkan, there were 24 candidates, including 17 males and 7 females, including two with mobility disabilities. As for the city of Kalba, the number of candidates reached 15. There are 15 candidates, all of whom are male, in the city of Dibba Al-Hisn, 15 candidates, including 11 males and 4 females, in the Al-Hamriyah region, 3 candidates, all of whom are males, in the Al-Bataeh region, 6 candidates, 5 of whom are males and 1 female, in the Maliha region, 8 candidates, all of whom are males, and finally, in the Al-Madam region, 12 candidates, including 12 candidates. 10 males and 2 females.
The Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Consultative Council Elections for the Emirate of Sharjah, Counselor Dr. Mansour bin Nassar, confirmed that “the initial list includes candidates who applied for membership in the Consultative Council for the Emirate of Sharjah to compete for 25 seats,” indicating that this announcement comes in the context of the timetable for the Consultative Council elections approved by the Supreme Committee. November 7 will be the date for revealing the initial list of candidates, which is an important milestone in Sharjah’s path towards enhancing citizens’ participation in the decision-making process.
Ibn Nassar explained, “The Supreme Committee will open the door to objections to the city’s candidates on November 8 and 9 at the headquarters of the electoral district committees in the municipalities of the Emirate of Sharjah, provided that it responds to the objections on November 12 and announces the final list of candidates on November 13.”
