On December 2, Fortnite hosted a virtual concert by rapper Eminem to celebrate the completion of Chapter 4. The star performed tracks “Lose Yourself” from his early career, as well as “Godzilla” from his later recordings. Marshall Mathers’ performance was watched by more than 11.6 million players.
Many Fortnite and Eminem fans were disappointed with the concert. Before Eminem’s performance, the developers presented teasers of future collaborations and innovations, and during the tracks themselves, players had the opportunity to participate in a rhythm game. Despite this, users on social networks noted that Eminem’s performance turned out to be too short – the actual performance of the tracks took about three minutes of the entire concert time. Gamers felt that the developers had let them down – many fans had planned an evening to attend Eminem’s show and were hoping for longer entertainment. Initially, several compositions were announced on the track list, including The Monster, Rap God and Venom, but they did not make it to the event.
This is not the first concert to take place in Fortnite. Previously, DJ Marshmello, rapper Travis Scott and singer Ariana Grande performed in the battle royale. Each of them performed an average of four tracks.
