“Emily in Paris” returns to Netflix, with resale and second-hand as guests

Madrid – The day has finally arrived and, on Thursday, August 15, 2024, the most popular series among fashion lovers returns to screens around the world, with the premiere on the popular streaming platform Netflix of the fourth season of “Emily in Paris”. This episode will once again make us part of the adventures and misadventures, loves and heartbreaks, of the young American Emily Cooper during her stay in the French capital, this time also with nods to the advantages of the practice of resale and the second-hand market.

With a total of 10 episodes for this new season, throughout each and every one of them the series will once again unfold before the eyes of its viewers as an irresistible fantasy from which to discover some of the most suggestive and stimulating creations created by some of the most prominent brands and biggest figures linked to the world of fashion, on a global scale. And true to that same essence on which the series has been able to defend itself since its premiere, back in October 2020, since its fourth season “Emily in Paris” will once again uncover itself as an open window to a world of fantasy and daydreaming, in which a young intern at a communications agency is able to show off and have an irresistible and enviable wardrobe for anyone with a certain inclination and taste for fashion and design. An intoxicating atmosphere that will once again serve as a backdrop for the Parisian adventures of young Emily Cooper, who, along with her usual and new stage partners, will continue to make our attentive eyes dance throughout this new season with outfits and pieces designed by fashion and accessories houses such as Aquazzura, Balmain, Boss, Cortana, Dior, Etro, Giambattista Valli, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Isabel Marant, Jacquemus, Karl Lagerfeld, Kate Spade, Marni, Manokhi, Miu Miu, Prada, Saint Laurent, Sergio Rossi, Thom Browne, Valentino, Yves Delloye, Zac Posen, Zegna and Zimmermann, to complete an endless list of top brands that have collaborated in the field of clothing, both for clothing and for footwear, bags and all other kinds of accessories.

Alongside this series of leading brands representing the entire industry, which are responsible for putting the spotlight on the new, growing and increasingly popular practice of resale, the launch of the fourth season of “Emily in Paris” is the platform specialising in the resale of luxury items, Vestiaire Collective. A start-up owned by the French multinational group specialising in the luxury sector Kering, owner of brands such as Gucci, Balenciaga and Saint Laurent, which has not hesitated to celebrate its participation in the series, in which they will also make their debut, they tell us, from the highly anticipated first episode of this new fourth season. An appearance in the series starring Lily Collins that they will carry out, revealing itself, without wanting to go into further details, as a particularly useful tool when it comes to capitalizing on investments in clothing and items from luxury brands, and which they have also not hesitated to want to celebrate by creating a series of wardrobe staples, with items available on the platform, in honor and tribute to the “youthful, fun and modern spirit of the series, and which gives life to the characters that we all adore.”

“We are very excited to partner with such an iconic television series that celebrates fashion in such an influential way,” Fanny Moizant, co-founder and president of Vestiaire Collective, has not hesitated to point out in a statement sent to us by the management of the resale platform itself. And, she goes on to say, “this partnership is an important milestone for the integration of circular fashion into popular programs,” while “reflecting the importance of the second-hand fashion market today.” An activation that is especially strategic, both for the company and for the entire world of resale, which Vestiaire Collective will be able to complete in this way with the help of “Emily in Paris,” from which, Moizant adds, “we also hope to motivate more people to buy second-hand fashion” and, with this, “contribute to a more sustainable future.”

A new fourth season, divided into two parts

Sticking to the pattern of not wanting to reveal too many details about the plot of the series for this fourth season, we will limit ourselves to pointing out that, following the model they have decided to adopt for the broadcast of some of their most acclaimed series, Netflix is once again going to bet on a two-part broadcast format, which will start with the premiere, on August 15, of the first part of this last fourth season of “Emily in Paris”. The first half of the season will be followed by a second, with the release of the last episodes of this fourth season on the same streaming platform, on September 12.

To celebrate the start of the new season, the platform held the premiere of the fourth season of “Emily in Paris” this past Wednesday, August 14, at The Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles. The celebration was not without the main protagonists of the series, a cast of actors headed by Lily Collins, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu and Ashley Park, along with Lucas Bravo, Lucien Laviscount, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, William Abadie, Arnaud Binard and Paul Forman, all of them already world-famous thanks to their performances in their different roles in the series. An attendance in which they were supported by members of the executive team of the series, its producers and its creator, Darren Star, thus kicking off the premiere of this fourth season of the series from the red carpet laid out at the foot of The Egyptian Theatre.

As for the plot, and as a synopsis, Netflix itself tells us that “after the dramatic events of Camille and Gabriel’s failed wedding”, throughout this new season we will discover a “doubting Emily”, with “strong feelings for two men”, and having to face the reality that “Gabriel is now expecting a baby with his ex”, while “Alfie’s worst fears about her and Gabriel have been confirmed”. As for the work front, “Sylvie is forced to confront a thorny chapter of her past for the sake of her marriage”, while “the team at ‘Agence Grateau’ faces personnel changes”. All this at the same time that her friend Mindy and her “band prepare for Eurovision”, having to face financial limitations against which they will be “forced to be thrifty”. In summary, regarding the loves and heartbreaks of the young American woman, “the chemistry between Emily and Gabriel” will once again be “undeniable,” while both “work together to obtain a Michelin star,” one of the chef’s greatest dreams, which will be threatened by “two big secrets.”
