The Lope de Vega Theater opens this Saturday and Sunday its season with ‘Take a walk on the wild side’, which is an experiential journey, a ‘piece on the way’ whose stage unfolds under our feet as we advance. A proposal that reinvents itself and that takes on a new meaning each time it is taken to a different place. After having done it in Madrid, Valencia, Palma or Cádiz, the artist Emilio Rivas (Cádiz, 1983) now recreates it in Seville.
The idea is to walk together through familiar places but with a new look. In this journey, a voice that comes through the headphones connects the reality we see and the illusion we live, establishing a collective fictional pact open to the imagination, to find the unusual in everyday places. An experiential theater where the stage is the building and its surroundings. A scenic game that feeds on the personality and the past of Lope de Vega as a unique space. A tribute to the Theater itself, to the vast history of what has been lived there and, also, to what is to come.
Emilio Rivas says that you have to «dare to the future. That is the motto from which we approach this peculiar reflection on theater. Theater as an artistic discipline, theater as a building (the Lope de Vega) dedicated to the performing arts in Seville, theater as an intimate and personal activity of those who speak in our ear. History has not been able to with this art. The scene is still alive in the XXI century. We move forward with it, we get moving ».
