I podkasten “Good ladies”, where host Guri Solberg (44) interviews just fine, creative and ambitious ladies, recently posed hotel heir Emilie Anker Stordalen (29) up and shared about family life, hotel work, wedding planning and future ambitions.
As the daughter of hotel king Petter Stordalen (58), it was natural from the very beginning that Emilie should follow in her father’s footsteps – even though she had long imagined that she would try something completely different.
These days she is helping to open a new hotel in Bodø. But even though things seem to be going in the right direction now, she acknowledges that it has been a very tough year to work in the hotel industry, and especially to see how her father Petter Stordalen was affected by the pandemic.
– I have always been proud of my father, but I have been even more proud of him the last year. He and the entire management have been fantastic and they have steered the ship through tough waters.

Worried about the danger
For the energetic and steadfast hotel king Petter, the combination of home office and pandemic has not been particularly favorable, and Emilie admits that at one point she became very worried about her father’s development.
– It was absolutely awful. We are very family loving. (…) It’s your father. When you see that they are in a tough situation, no matter what it is, and they change their behavior. Do not eat, or … then you get nervous. It’s not a good feeling. It’s probably something I’ll remember for a long time; just those months there, Emilie says honestly in the podcast.

Emilie is the daughter of Petter and his ex-wife Ingrid Fuglehaug Stordalen (57), and is the older sister of the brothers Jakob (24) and Henrik (27).
– I am grateful that I have a nice and patient girlfriend at home, who has been very patient on the sidelines, and supported us during the year we have been through.

Revealed wedding location
The wedding is scheduled to take place at the Copperhill Mountain Lodge hotel in Åre in Sweden, owned by Stordalen, in December this year.
He has already received his future son-in-law with open arms.
– Jens was thus a discovery. I tend to say that the best I have comes from Sweden, apart from my children, of course. Jens was a dream. A son-in-law from heaven. I’m easily moved, it’s in the family. I’m going to cry. Weddings are the feast of life. You start a new family, it will be beautiful, said Petter Stordalen in the Swedish radio program in the autumn of 2020.

And despite the corona pandemic and a lot of work with a new hotel in Bodø, Emilie is in full swing with the wedding planning.
– I’m planning for full throttle, I! says Emilie to host Guri Solberg, but the same enthusiasm in her voice as her father.
