Emiliano Yacobitti invited Adorni to debate publicly after the spokesperson responded to the proposal to get into a boxing ring

The presidential spokesperson responded to the vice-rector of the UBA after he said that he would get into a ring with him

An unexpected crossover between Emiliano Yacobitti and Manuel Adorni took on significance this Friday after the presidential spokesperson echoed the proposal made by the vice-rector of the University of Buenos Aires, who in the framework of an interview with Tomás Rebord said that he would invite him to get into a ring and fight him in a massive event. After the response from the Government spokesperson, the radical leader finally invited him to “debate.”

The statements that caused this back and forth arose from a question that the streaming host asked the former legislator, to whom he told that at the end of the year a boxing show called ‘Handstand’ will be organized in which they usually celebrities participate. In this sense, he told him that the idea of the next edition is that one of the fights will be between politicians. It was then that he asked him the question that made it to this morning’s press conference.

“Would you hold on to pineapples on top of a ring?” Rebord asked in his program broadcast on Blender. The radical leader’s response was clear: “I would try not to, but if I have to get on, I’ll get on. But with gloves,” he assured.

In response to his statement, the journalist went further: “Can you think of anyone in national politics with whom you would say ‘with this one I’m going to die in a ring’?” he asked. Consequently, Yacobitti mentioned his possible opponent and gave his reasons: “The answer is easy. You see her every morning. Adorni has all the chips. He is a guy who enjoys when they cut people up.”

Those statements took on a greater stir in the last few hours, when, during his usual press conference, the spokesperson himself referred to the proposal. He did so by questioning the vice-rector of the UBA and with irony, given that he described the proposed initiative as a “super interesting challenge in this context.”

His reaction occurred after a TEA student consulted him about the budget issue of the University of Buenos Aires, mentioning a recent claim by Yacobitti. Upon hearing his name, Adorni replied: “He was the one who invited me to box, right? He cheated anyway, because I think he has been boxing since he was 18. What happens is that in reality we should be on equal terms and it seems to me that if you practice boxing since you were 18…”, the spokesperson for Javier Milei’s government began analyzing.

And he added: “It doesn’t mean that I don’t do it, I’m going to think about it, but it seems to me that we are too far apart. Maybe I am a little taller and have some comparative advantage in relation to height. I have to evaluate it with a little more mathematical calculation, but I think I’m at a disadvantage. How old is Yacobitti? 44 years? If so, that since he was 18 he has been practicing some boxing discipline, we have a 26-year advantage. “That versus maybe me being a little taller…I think I’m at a disadvantage.”

Finally, he concluded by assuring that he is going to think about it: “I am going to analyze it. That’s why, who tells you, it adds to the super interesting challenge that he posed to me in this context of Argentina. “It’s great that we waste time on these things.”

After the press conference, Yacobitti responded to Adorni again. However, this time he changed his proposal from boxing to an invitation to debate. “Let’s go from playing games to taking things seriously. Because the situation is no joke. It’s dramatic. It would be good to sit down with Manuel Adorni on Tomás Rebord’s program and debate why, more than adjustment, public education needs public investment,” he wrote on his social networks.

And he added: “To also demonstrate why the UBA is one of the most prestigious universities in Latin America and we have to be proud of it and take care of it. With concrete numbers and statistics. To inform and not misinform.”
