On December 21, the new singer, the winner of the fifth season of the “X Factor” show, made her debut at the Musical Bank Emilia. She released the song she wrote in the finale of the show “Heart in Ashes” and started cooperation with the world’s leading music publishing house “Universal Music Group”.
The song “Sirds pelnos” was written by Emily this fall in preparation for her studies on publishing music, but due to her participation in “The X Factor” the song was not released to the public. During the show, Emilija showed the song to her mentor Aija Auškāpa, and together it was decided that “Heart in Ashes” will be included in her final performance.
The lyrics and music of “Sirds pelnos” are written by Emilija, the song was produced by the Swedish musician Povel Olsson, who previously also collaborated with the group Prata Vētra. Thanks to a lucky coincidence, Powell had come to Riga in November to perform with the singer Loreen. After listening to Emily’s song, Powell was ready to get to work quickly, and a small recording studio was set up behind the scenes of the “Palladium Riga” concert hall, where Emily sang vocals.
“If we sometimes lose something, it is not an art to hide the pain, it is much more difficult to say – yes, I am in pain, I need help, and to accept that only that which was not true at all disappears from your life. Confessing these emotions to yourself is brave, it allows you to assess your own strength and give yourself the opportunity to live for real, love for real, work for real. Life teaches us and toughens us, but it heals us with music,” says Emilija about the song “Sirds pelnos”.
