Super talent Emil Roback left Hammarby for AC Milan three years ago. Before this season, the 20-year-old was loaned to IFK Norrköping to get playing time.
However, everything has not gone according to plan and Roback has only played in three of Norrköping’s matches in the Allsvenskan this year.
Last week, the player made headlines when IFK Norrköping’s sporting director Tony Martinsson told that Roback was missing.
– I want to know that he is okay. It’s worrying that we can’t get hold of him, but I don’t know what else we can do, he said at the time.
During Thursday, however, the player was found, which Martinsson confirmed for Expressen. To Fotbollskanalen, he was tight-lipped about what had happened.
“Is between me and Emil”, he wrote then.
Now Roback gives his view of what happened.
In an interview with The evening paper says that he was unwell and basically only had contact with his family.
– I just felt that the head was not in the right place. It was as if I locked myself in. I know of course that it wasn’t the best I could have done, but now it turned out that way, he tells the newspaper.
About the last week’s uproar, he says.
– It wasn’t fun, of course. Outwardly it looks like I’ve just disappeared, which I have. But I haven’t just screwed up in the club. Many people have contacted me and wondered how I was doing and some have even thought that I have been kidnapped.
He says he never felt like he did before and calls it all “some kind of depression”. The days have been spent on social media. Since a couple of days have been back around the club and after having a conversation with Tony Martinsson have run a couple of sessions in the gym.
He says that he has received good support from the club and that he now wants to look ahead.
– It feels okay. Now I’m back and it feels good. Now I will make the best of the situation and hope to get back to where I know I can be. I still have big goals with my football.
