The director general responded to the media commission’s attacks on public television
BNT is shooting a film about Greece going through the history of northern Macedonia
I do not comment on the words of an MP, especially since the deputies have immunity, and I do not comment on personal attacks. The election of the director general of BNT is always appealed in court and the court rules. There is a court decision.
This was said by the director general of BNT Emil Koshlukov in “The day begins with Georgi Lyubenov” on the occasion of the intention of the parliamentary media commission to investigate the procedure for his election.
At its last meeting, its chairman, Toshko Yordanov, said that if there were any violations, the director general should be released early.
In this regard, Koshlukov explained that now they can check his second diploma in Egyptology, which he is very proud of. The first – in political science, is from 30 years ago. “I don’t know if they will be able to read it, because it is from the University of California,” Koshlukov said.
According to him, the viewership of BNT is growing, although BNT is in last place on the budget of public television, as shown by a report of the European Council on Radio and Television. According to Koshlukov, this report includes 50 countries. “The chairman of the media commission works in television and knows these results,” Koshlukov said, commenting on Yordanov’s words that BNT’s budget was huge and zero.
The commercial televisions are already counting on us for competition, they are planning on our backs, they felt that BNT is working, the general director explained. That’s why they put the game “Get rich” at 6 pm on the back of the news and commentary show “Since the day”, which are highly watched.
BNT is about to make a film about how Greece is going through history with Northern Macedonia. According to Koshlukov, it has taken Greece 25 years to fix Macedonia’s geography – since 1993, when the country was called the former Yugoslav republic. The director general explained that such a film would not be made by commercial television, but it is the duty of public television to protect national interests.
That is why BNT has signed a contract to broadcast in Macedonia. However, there is only BNT4, which is intended for Bulgarians abroad. BNT1 cannot be broadcast because of the films it shows. They have rights only for the territory of Bulgaria. It is quite possible that, if our foreign ministry decides, the rights to both films and sports will be paid for northern Macedonia as well. Then, according to Koshlukov, BNT1 will be able to broadcast in our neighbor.
In our country, however, Macedonian television is not shown, as they did not have a suitable TV channel.
At the same time, BNT will broadcast 10 films about famous Bulgarians. “It is very important for me to leave a memory of the great Bulgarians,” said Koshlukov, whose term ends in July. That’s why public television started shooting 10 more films in March. Among the documentary series there will be episodes about Stefan Danailov, Blaga Dimitrova, Stoyanka Mutafova and many others. BNT is also preparing 5-6 films for the transition, and in February it will start broadcasting its latest series “Me and My Women”.
