Emerson Avendaño sworn in as mayor of Rancagua – 2024-08-15 00:25:02

With the assistance of nine councilors of the Municipality of Rancagua, the extraordinary session was held for the swearing-in of Emerson Avendaño Llanca as titular mayor, for the remainder of the municipal term that ends in December of this year.

The event was presided over by the official mayor, Valentina Cáceres, who mentioned that the only point of the day would be the swearing-in and investiture of the first municipal authority, as established by the Constitutional Organic Law of Municipalities.

Once the agenda item was read by the secretary of the municipal council, Carlos Morales, he proceeded to swear in Emerson Avendaño as mayor, who raised his left hand to swear, while his right hand rested on a Bible.

Later, Councilwoman Eugenia Gaete was sworn in and will now fill the vacancy left by the incumbent mayor for the period that expires next December.

After the swearing-in of both municipal officials, the rest of the councilors congratulated the new authorities, with words of encouragement to continue working for the development of the commune of Rancagua and well-being for the population.

Upon leaving the event, Mayor Emerson Avendaño thanked the councillors that “despite the differences, democracy always prevails (…) and despite the differences, the council has prevailed and its will is for him to be mayor until the month of December.”

“I hope to be fulfilling what was promised, such as reviewing the audits of the corporations, advancing the projects that are behind schedule and improving the center of Rancagua, as one of the points that brings us all together,” said the new mayor of the regional capital.

For her part, the new councillor Eugenia Gaete, when approached, expressed her willingness to work in the three months remaining in her administration, on the streets and helping people.

“I will take on these three months with a lot of honesty, a lot of transparency. I come from a totally different world, because I know hunger, poverty and everyday life very well,” he said.

“I come here with clean hands and I want to leave here with clean hands,” said the recently sworn-in councilwoman of Rancagua.
