The wind power company Emergy’s subsidiary, East Renewable, reports that their wind farm in Ukraine at 05:30 was hit by a rocket part, and that at least one of the turbines is on fire.
The company further writes that it is most likely that two of the wind turbines have been hit. The Syvash wind farm is located in the Kherson region of southern Ukraine.
There are no injuries, they write further .
East Renewable board member Thorstein Jenssen in Emergy writes in an SMS that “the situation is very serious and unresolved and we prioritize health , safety and follow-up of employees”. He does not have more comments, beyond what appears in the report, until the company has a better overview and has more specific information about the extent of damage and more.
Profiled investors
The first reports from the site report that the damage is limited to an auxiliary transformer.
The company and the owners say in the message that they are working to get more information about the situation on the site, but that it is not safe to go to the site for more investigations.
The Norwegian wind power developer has high-profile investors such as Aker, Kjell Inge Røkke, Trond Mohn and the brokerage house Arctic Securities.
Block Watne heir Lars Nilsen owns 10.2 percent of Emergy through Lani Invest. Kjell Inge Røkke-dominated Aker owns 8.3 per cent, in addition Røkke directly owns 0.5 per cent through TRG Holding.
Emergy has invested in wind power development in countries such as Mongolia, China and Ukraine. It has run a deficit of over 1.5 billion since its inception in 2005.
