To celebrate the Month of Corrientes, an emerging art show was held with the aim of revaluing Corrientes culture in times of pandemic.
It was in the Plaza Cabral and there were artisans and painters working live, with manual crafts of various materials. Sellers of books of various literary genres also participated in this exhibition.
The activity, proposed by the Municipality of the City, was aimed at artists who dedicate themselves exclusively to painting to make their work known. Live artistic interventions of all kinds were included, under strict health protocol.
“It’s a nice way to show what each one of us does, the pandemic made our situation quite complicated,” plastic artist Mariano Ledesma told El Litoral. The young man, who has been working for four years, commented that participating in these fairs and exhibitions has allowed him to show his drawings and paintings and gain some recognition in the environment.
At the same time, Ledesma commented that spaces like these greatly influence the sales and economy of his business. “It is essential that they give us these places for artists who are not so well known,” he said yesterday afternoon.
Artists who began to work in times of the pandemic also participated in this cultural event. This is the case of Daniela Hartmann, from Corazón Artesano, a proposal for handicrafts in wood and painting that was born in December of last year, in the midst of the health crisis.
“I always liked doing different types of art, I dedicated myself to this, but for friends and acquaintances, I never commercialized,” he said. In addition, he explained that the time of isolation allowed him to experiment and professionalize his art.
“I started with painted Christmas trees in December of last year in the middle of a pandemic. The truth is that they liked them so much that I started with 5 and ended with more than 60, ”he said. He also commented that, even with financial complications, people approach the stands and buy the productions.
In the same way, Alejandra Sosa, from Regionales Ale, carried out her job of painting porongos live for the attendees. “Now I’m doing a pombero, this nap I was making a capybara. They are pencil holders and I am adding a little paint to that ”, he explained.
Sosa has been selling his art for almost six years and is dedicated to molding, painting and engraving porongos. For her it is a noble element due to the flexibility to carry out crafts of all kinds. But, mainly, it focuses on creating pieces with a native tint, such as animals or plants.
In that sense, he stressed that “these types of activities are good for promoting art.” “Always all the handicrafts from here, from the people who produce in the region, are more than well received and welcomed by the people who are getting to know what we have,” he stressed.
Sosa, although he took advantage of the pandemic to produce, assured that sales decreased because, he understands, people prioritize other things.
In addition, he commented that Expo Arte, and all the fairs in which it participates, are carried out with strict sanitary measures. “Gel alcohol is used, the spacing seal is placed, there are distances between gazebos. There are also few exhibitors, so that there is no crowding of people ”, he pointed out.
Finally, he said that “we always wonder where all the painters are, and now they have the opportunity to show their art and it surprises us. Hopefully these proposals will continue ”.
Apart from artisans and painters, exhibitors of books of different genres participated, such as regional history, science fiction and love stories, among the main productions found.
The Corrientes Piedmontese Family Association was present with history books that revalue Italian culture in our province. “It is not our real function to sell, for us it is important that people come together, that they know the culture,” said Edgar Omar Gagliardone and Miguel Alfonso Maccarini, representatives of the association.
They added that “it was done outdoors due to social distancing, it is good to continue with these spaces.”
The Art Expo began at 9 in the morning and lasted until 22. For the entire month of April, the Municipality of Corrientes prepared activities to celebrate the month of the city.
