There was a cyber attack on the Berlin Johannesstift Diakonie on Sunday morning. All central servers were victims of an external attack, according to a press release.
The Johannesstift Diakonie operates several hospitals and health facilities in Berlin. These include the Martin Luther Hospital in Schmargendorf, the Evangelical Forest Hospital in Spandau and the Elisabeth Clinic in Tiergarten.
The majority of the IT systems in the facilities have failed, according to the statement. All data backup measures were taken immediately and the emergency systems were started. IT is currently working on various options for restoring the systems. All servers are encrypted through a so-called crypto raid, so there is currently no access to them.
In all decentralized Johannesstift Diakonie facilities such as hospitals, care and living, the service areas and the social economy, the emergency concepts are effective and operations are running stable, the press release continued.
The intranet and website of the Johannesstift Diakonie, including all facilities, are not affected, so that employees can communicate and the public is continuously informed about the current status. “In urgent cases, contact persons at Johannesstift Diakonie can be reached by telephone,” says the message.
