Emergency measures have been imposed by the Greek authorities in the areas affected by the current cyclone. To travel only when absolutely necessary, the authorities in our southern neighbor recommend. Most ferries have been stopped, BNR reports.
Until this morning, the movement of personal cars and public transport in Athens was banned. Traffic has been partially restored. Traffic on the coastal boulevard of the Greek capital has been stopped. Public services and schools remain closed. It is recommended that private companies work remotely. A bus carrying passengers flooded a boulevard in Athens, but people were rescued. Ground floors and shops are flooded.
In Thessaloniki, heavy rain took away a bus, but the passengers managed to escape. The storm affected almost the entire country. The regions of Thrace and Crete are also under water. The cyclone is moving towards the islands in the Aegean Sea.
There are flooded roads and fallen trees everywhere along the cyclone. Authorities are urging travel only when necessary.
Military units also joined the fire and civil protection forces. Weather forecasters warn that there will be heavy rain and hail today.
