It’s well known that the Côte d’Azur is one of the French’s favorite summer destinations. During the holidays, its population increases eightfold! So, with such crowds, this paradise for tourists quickly turns into a nightmare for emergency services. The Toulon Samu and its 50 doctors and nurses are all particularly experienced and used to complicated interventions. But this summer, they had a hell of a season with an average of 5 outings per day, and outings that they will remember. The cause is the carnage of two-wheelers: risky driving, head-on collisions and dramatic accidents where every minute counts to save dozens of victims. And above all, a dark series of drownings which increasingly concern young children or adolescents who do not know how to swim well. But here too, the Toulon Samu emergency workers performed miracles during very moving interventions.
