The emergency rooms of Saint-Hilaire hospital are forced to close for a week. In Avranches, pediatric emergencies will also have to close for a weekend.
Channel hospitals are short of doctors. For this reason, the emergency reception will be closed at the Saint-Hilaire-du-Harcouët hospital from Wednesday April 19 at 6:30 p.m. until Tuesday April 25 at 10 a.m.
“Due to a lack of voluntary replacement doctors in the context of the framework for medical interim tariffs since April 3, the Saint-Hilaire hospital center must temporarily adapt the organization of its emergency service”, explains the Mont-Saint-Michel hospital group in a press release.
The group specifies that the emergency department will not receive patients during this period, and recommends that they dial 15 if necessary.
“This period of suspension at Saint-Hilaire has been reduced to what is strictly necessary, and everything is done to keep it exceptional,” continues the group.
Closure of pediatric emergencies in Avranches
Other hospitals in the group are forced to adapt the reception of their emergency department due to the lack of staff. The pediatric emergencies of the Avranches-Granville hospital will be closed next weekend, from 8:30 a.m. on Friday 21, until 8:30 a.m. on Monday 24.
The hospital group had already indicated a restriction in the reception of adult, pediatric and gynecological emergency services at the hospitals of Avranches-Granville and Saint-Hilaire since April 3.
A call to 15 is now mandatory before any access to emergencies. The latter are accessible to patients referred by the Samu, sent by their doctor or presenting a life-threatening emergency.
