Emergency room: even the “token holders” are on the run

The hunt for doctors to make up for staff shortages in the delicate sector ofemergency-urgency (and not only) becomes more and more complicated. The wards of the health facilities of Salerno and its province still remain empty despite the initiatives taken by various parties to guarantee a permanent contract. But, by now, saying goodbye to the precarious job is no longer enough: the flop of the regional “competition” for doctors destined for Emergency room of the “terra felix” now in full swing – the evaluation commission was appointed a few days ago, shortly we will move on to examining the CVs and moving on to the operational phase of the tender – to which, compared to the 363 contracts put on the table indefinitely, they only responded 151 candidates of which only 119 were deemed suitable. In short, the gaps in the workforce remain impossible to fill. But even the other procedures banned in recent times are ready to end with other, authentic flops, due to the lack of adherence by doctors.

Part-time services, 5 responders

Now, ASL Salerno, the company led by the manager, has had to swallow another bitter pill Gennaro Sosto who was entrusted with the organization of the regional “competition”. The offices in via Nizza, in fact, in recent weeks had announced an expression of interest for three-month self-employment assignments for emergency medicine specialists. In short, the ASL – while waiting to understand the outcome of the “competition” – had announced another selection for VAT registered doctors, the so-called “token holders”, to entrust them with maximum 38 hours per week with a compensation of 60 euros every sixty minutes. An economically attractive proposal which, however, did not find the expected response: at the deadline for submitting applications, in fact, only seven specialists responded but two, however, were excluded as they did not possess the required requirements. A small patch in the face of gaps in the staff: in the resolution signed by the manager Gennaro Sosto, in fact, it is reiterated that the shortage of doctors for the emergency-urgency areas of the Salerno ASL is equal to well 84 units.
