Resident doctors in the emergency room of Rabta hospital observe, tomorrow Tuesday, a protest movement and a temporary suspension of work, in protest against “the repeated attacks against the medical and paramedical staff of the hospital, especially in the emergency room” , announced on Monday the Tunisian Organization of Young Doctors.
In a statement released on Monday, the organization said the suspension of work, which will continue until three o’clock in the afternoon of the same day, with the care of life-threatening cases, comes in protest against the attacks perpetrated against medical and paramedical staff, in an almost total absence since May 1st, of the duty staff at the Hospital.
The organization added that the lack of security guards in the hospital in general and in the emergency department in particular, has caused an exacerbation of the phenomenon of violence, which has led to the disruption of health services in this department.
In this context, the resident physicians of the emergency room have called for the mobilization of a permanent 24/7 security patrol in the emergency department and the acceleration of the procedures for assigning guards to the emergency department.
