Emergency PPKM, Luhut Suggests Workers Only Work 15 Days in Factory

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Panjaitan ask the Ministry of Manpower to rearrange working hours labor. Requests were made regarding the progress of the results of the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (Emergency PPKM) recently.

Luhut claimed that the emergency PPKM had succeeded in suppressing community mobility. Not only that, he also claimed that the emergency PPKM had succeeded in increasing the recovery rate of COVID-19 patients.

“It means that areas with black zones turn to red, red zones to yellow zones, so that’s quite a lot today. However, there are still things that need attention. One of them is the workers, where the industry is still a lot of red. If possible, I would suggest a work schedule. they are tightened,” said Coordinating Minister Luhut in a statement issued in Jakarta, Tuesday (13/7).

Luhut said there are several things the Ministry of Manpower can do in rearranging workers’ working hours and days. One of the things he conveyed to the Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Ida Fauziyah was to implement the mechanism of working one day at home.

“If he should work 30 days a month, this becomes 15 days. So a day at home, a day at work. This is also in principle to avoid the workers/laborers being ‘laid off’,” said Coordinating Minister Luhut.

However, so that the work system is not misinterpreted by the company by interpreting WFH without wages for workers, he asked Ida to make clear rules.

“WFH and being dismissed, please make it clear, so that later it can be translated through ministerial regulations or circular instructions from the Minister of Home Affairs. So there are no different interpretations,” he said.

In addition to the work system, so that efforts to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 among factory workers can be successful, he also asked Ida to arrange employee lunch hours so that they do not coincide. This is to prevent crowds that have the potential to spread the corona virus.

“So don’t let them have lunch together, causing a crowd. The point is to pay attention to meal times, don’t meet to eat together. I leave this to the Minister of Manpower Ida,” he said.

Previously, Ida had issued a Circular (SE) to all governors to urge entrepreneurs or company leaders to optimize the implementation of SE Number M/7/AS.02.02/V/2020.

“No less important is the plan for business continuity in the face of the covid-19 pandemic and the protocol for preventing the transmission of covid-19 in the company. Also to comply with the Emergency PPKM,” explained Ida.
