According to a Shell spokesperson, there is a problem with a heat exchanger at one of the units. “The factory in question is being taken out of service in a controlled manner. The situation is stable, but as a precaution the emergency services are ready. ” At around 11:15 pm, the security region reports that the situation is being monitored by the company. Emergency services remain available as a backstop.

The safety region has announced that a chemical odor may have been released on Wednesday evening that is not harmful to health. At the moment ‘the risk to the immediate environment would be limited’.
