Restaurant Het Wapen van Kaatsheuvel was largely flooded on Sunday afternoon. Near the restaurant on Haastrechtstraat, part of the EuroParcs holiday park, a pumping station came to a standstill. As a result, sewage water came up through the toilets.
The fire brigade has now rolled up the hoses again because all the water has been removed from the restaurant. In one of the rooms, which can seat about a hundred people, there was five to ten centimeters of sewage. The toilets were also full of sewage. Another dining room remained dry.
Discharge water
The first report of water from the toilets was received by the emergency services at ten o’clock. A little later, sewage water also entered the restaurant.
Christmas dinner continues
There was supposed to be a Christmas lunch in the restaurant this afternoon, but these guests had to move to another restaurant at EuroParcs. Tonight at five o’clock they will have guests for dinner again, initially there was the fear that the Christmas dinner would not go ahead.
The expectation is now that these people will be able to go to the restaurant. The staff is busy cleaning everything and setting all the tables. A cleaning crew is also hard at work.
