Freiburg (dpa/lsw) – A student announced on an Internet platform on Friday evening that a bomb would go off in a school in Freiburg. Police had learned of the announcement on their own, a spokesman said without giving details. When the 19-year-old was identified, he admitted he had written the bomb threat, but it wasn’t meant seriously. However, for security reasons, the school was evacuated in the morning and searched for hours. About 700 students and school staff were affected by the eviction. Not a bomb or other explosive device was found.

The young man now faces a criminal case for disturbing the peace with the threat of crime. According to the police, the extent to which he has to pay the costs of the operation is also being examined.
