Frankfurt am Main (dpa) – A homeless man may have died in Frankfurt due to the cold. According to the police, the 46-year-old died on Wednesday night in the parking lot of a supermarket in the Gallus district. “He may have died from cold temperatures and an autopsy should now clarify the exact cause of death,” a spokesman said on Thursday. As a result, the man was regularly in the parking lot and stayed there overnight. The 46-year-old was found by an employee of a social welfare institution. The rescuers summoned could only determine his death.
There are various aid campaigns for the homeless in Frankfurt: A low-threshold offer is emergency accommodation in the Eschenheimer Tor underground station, where around 150 beds, i.e. mattresses and blankets, are provided, as well as a small breakfast. There is also accommodation in the city in dormitories and hotels. Also, the cold bus is running around the city area to supply the people.
