Emergence of Viruses: Future Threats and Illustrative Cases

The alteration of biodiversity, climate change and human activities lead to a new functioning of ecosystems affecting biological and human communities. Theses viruses like Ebola or the SRAS-CoV-2 virus are transmitted to humans, at the origin of “zoonoses” that are part of emerging infectious diseases. Many concepts like “One Health” are driving a more holistic approach in the fight against infectious diseases. It has been shown that to reduce the risk of pandemics, the main challenge is to reduce their causes, in particular by preserving biodiversity.
