Governments around the world are considering how to mitigate the dangers posed by the emergence of artificial intelligence technologies that could change the global economy and the international security landscape.
The UK, which is chairing the UN Security Council this month, is said to be seeking a global role in regulating AI. The discussion in the Security Council will be chaired by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom, James Claverley.
It should be noted that UN Secretary General António Guterres supported the proposal to create an international body to monitor AI, such as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
AI regulation
In 2022, artificial intelligence began to develop rapidly. The impetus for this was the release of the ChatGPT bot, which began to be actively used in many areas. Therefore, countries resort to regulation of the artificial intelligence industry.
The CEO of OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, called on the United States Congress to regulate artificial intelligence. US Senators are known to hold secret briefings on this issue.
The European Union is also preparing a historic law to regulate the use of AI. Read more about what limitations of artificial intelligence are planned to be introduced in the RBC-Ukraine article.
