Janssen’s corona vaccine has a new side effect, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the Dutch side effects center Lareb report. The package insert of the vaccine now includes an inflammation of the small blood vessels in the skin, also known as ‘cutaneous vasculitis’.

Cutaneous vasculitis can cause a rash or bruising. Sometimes the inflammation can also penetrate to internal organs, resulting in stomach, intestinal and muscle complaints. Then the condition is called systemic vasculitis.

Three notifications
Lareb has so far reported three reports of cutaneous vasculitis following a Janssen vaccine shot, out of approximately 860,000 shots. At the end of last year, around 42.5 million Janssen vaccines had been administered worldwide.
