[아시아경제 임철영 기자] The European Medicines Agency (EMA) said it was not related to Pfizer’s Corona 19 vaccine and the recently reported death toll, and no new side effects were identified.
On the 29th (local time), EMA concluded the result of the safety evaluation of the COVID-19 vaccine jointly developed by Pfizer, a US pharmaceutical company, and Bioentech, Germany. The EMA said there was no association between mortality and Pfizer vaccination, and that related cases do not raise safety concerns. The Pfizer vaccine has been used in European Union countries since the end of last month.
In this assessment, EMA compared the mortality rates of patients with different diseases to analyze the deaths after vaccination. EMA explained that the data collected during the Pfizer vaccination process did not compromise existing safety and that there were no new side effects.
Questions about the safety of Pfizer’s vaccine spread as 33 of the 20,000 elderly nursing home residents who received the vaccine in Norway died. Since then, similar cases have also been reported in Denmark and Finland, including France.
