Australia currently face Pakistan in the ongoing second Test. On matchday four, Australia captain Pat Cummins caught the eye as he attempted to repair the pitch in Karachi. The incident happened in the 53rd inning when Cameron Green had the ball in hand. Cummins stepped in to repair the uneven part of the bowler’s landing area on the pitch with a hammer in hand and ground staff were impressed, watching how naturally the task came to the Australia Test skipper. Cummins pounded the turf with the hammer as he tried to make Green’s landing zone a little more comfortable.
Pakistan Cricket’s official Twitter account shared the video on Twitter and captioned the post as, “So @patcummins30 is Thor?”
Pakistan have set a goal of 506 in the ongoing second test at the Karachi National Stadium. At Day 4 strains, Babar Azam and Abdullah Shafique were undefeated 102 and 71 with the hosts score of 192/2. Pakistan need 314 more runs to win the test and lead 1-0 in the three-game series.
The first Test between these two nations ended in a draw and Rawalpindi’s pitch came under intense scrutiny as play was heavily tilted towards the batters. The ICC also rated the terrain as “below average” and the site received a demerit point.
Pakistan Cricket Board chief Ramiz Raja also spoke about the pitch, saying a draw is never good for the game. Pat Cummins explained how Pakistan wanted to keep the Australian pacemakers out of the game and hence such a flat track was prepared.
