That should have been the most beautiful and exciting 48 hours in the life of EM hero Federico Bernardeschi (27). Just two days after winning the European Championship, the Italian international married his wife Veronica Ciardi (36) in Tuscany. But if that wasn’t reason enough to celebrate, daughter Lena was baptized during the ceremony and all of that on the bride’s birthday. However, she had to wait in front of the altar for her professional footballer!
Ciardi had to wait forty minutes before the couple could say yes in the cathedral of Bernardeschi’s hometown Carrara. Before that, the pastor, who trusted the two, allowed himself a little joke: “Are you more nervous now or in the final just before your penalty kick?” Bernardeschi just smiled. Fortunately, he converted his penalty in the final.
EM hero Bernardeschi too late for his own wedding
The ceremony was broadcast live on television and a number of fans flocked to the center of the city of Carrara to celebrate the EM star and his bride. Despite his delay, family and friends of the newly wed couple celebrated exuberantly. “We hadn’t seen him so happy for months,” said relatives of the Juve professional in the “Corriere della Serra”.

The wife of the Italian international is not a stranger herself. She gained international fame through her participation in the Italian version of Big Brother (2009/2010). The newly wedded couple has been together since 2016. In 2019 daughter Deva saw the light of day. Daughter Lena followed two years later.
