Elżbieta Wójcik from Karlino lost in the quarterfinals of the Olympic boxing tournament during the games in Paris

Elżbieta Wójcik did not advance to the semi-finals of the Paris Games in the 75 kg boxing category. In Sunday’s quarter-finals she lost on points to the representative of Panama, Atheyna Bylon.

Our reporter Radosław Zmudziński talked to Elżbieta Wójcik’s friend, Hanna Solecka, a trainer at the Sicarios Koszalin boxing club, right after the fight.

– In my opinion, Ela deserved to win. (…) She can’t blame herself. We saw her opponent’s mistakes and the referee’s lack of reaction. Ela did everything in this fight. She implemented the tactics she had – commented on Solecka’s fight.

Before the fight with Ela Wójcik, Julia Szeremeta (57 kg) secured at least a bronze medal. Szeremeta defeated Puerto Rican Ashleyann Lozada Motta unanimously on points in the quarterfinals. On Wednesday, she will face Filipina Nesthy Petecio in the semifinals.

Polish boxing has been waiting for an Olympic medal since 1992, when Wojciech Bartnik won bronze in Barcelona.
