Information about my husband’s death Elżbieta Witek was conveyed in a message published on the Facebook page of the Law and Justice party of the Legnica-Jelenia Góra district.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce that today, after a long and serious illness, Stanisław Witek, a former member of the Management Board of the Copper Basin Region and an active activist of Educational Solidarity, passed away. Our deepest sympathy and condolences go to Elżbieta Witek and the entire family of the late Stanisław Witek.” – it was written.
Witek also announced the death of Elżbieta’s husband Solidarity Copper Basin.
Who was Stanisław Witek?
Stanisław Witek was born in 1952 in Jawor and graduated from the University of Wrocław.
According to information provided by Solidarity Zagłębie Miedziowe, after December 13, 1981, Witek was actively involved in the distribution of underground publications and took part in various actions in the Legnica Voivodeship. For many years he also worked as a teacher at a primary school in Paszowice. In the years 1994-1998 he served as a councilor of the city of Jawor and was a delegate to the Provincial Assembly.
In 2009 Stanisław Witek he was awarded the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, and in 2016 he received the Cross of Freedom and Solidarity.

O Stanisław Witek it became famous in 2023 when the media reported that he was in a vegetative state in the intensive care unit hospital in Legnica. Then his wife, the Speaker of the Sejm, issued a statement in which she expressed her opposition to publications regarding his health condition.
Elżbieta Witek emphasized that she did not seek any special treatment for her husband related to her office, leaving all medical decisions to doctors.
