Elżbieta Góralczyk, known as Anula from the TV series “Home War”, gained nationwide recognition. However, she failed to build an impressive career. Many years later, it turned out that her private life was full of suffering that began in the family home.
Elżbieta Góralczyk won the casting for the series “Home War”, which premiered in 1965. The 14-year-old actress got a chance to play the role of Anula, a teenager living with Henryk and Irena, played by Andrzej Szczepkowski and Alina Janowska.
Years later, in an interview with Fakt, she mentioned that she owed her success to a modest outfit that distinguished her from other candidates. Some couldn’t accept defeat. Góralczyk received letters in which she read that she was “fat, ugly, with bad teeth and hydrocephalus”.

Góralczyk did not have an easy life. In an interview with Fakt, she confessed that she could not count on her parents’ support. “They were always only concerned with themselves. Their whole life was one big problem. They were addicted to alcohol, and our house was not at all decent,” she said. “Conflicts often broke out, because there was always a few zlotys for vodka, but not for children’s shoes.”

Almost, and the actress would not play in the cult series – her father opposed it. But her mother stood up for her. In “Civil War” she received a substitute for a parental relationship. Ultimately, however, she did not make a great acting career – she only played episodic roles in two films – “The Nose” and “Życie na hot”. She started working as a model and make-up artist in Telewizja Polska.

Her marriage was a failure. She fell into depression because of it
During a visit to a friend in Vienna, Góralczyk met a lawyer with whom she eventually became involved. The couple got married in 1975, had a daughter, but the relationship itself turned out to be hell.
As the actress describes, her husband used psychological violence against her. “At 5:00 in the morning I was buttoned up – made up, dressed, breakfast was on the table. The family sat down and I washed everything. Then I ran to work. On my way home, I shopped and then cooked. husband’s love. He completely ignored me,” she said in an interview.
The highlander fell into depression. She revealed that she had been isolated from friends and acquaintances for a long time. “I had no one to confide in. I lasted 20 years. Eventually I fell into depression,” she said. Despite the difficulties of her husband, Góralczyk decided to divorce. Unfortunately, the separation negatively affected the relationship with her daughter, the woman was also left without money.
Soon after, she was diagnosed with a serious illness, HUS – hemolytic uremic syndrome. Góralczyk died on January 16, 2018 in Vienna, at the age of only 58.
