Musician Benjamin Keough, 27, was found dead this Sunday in Calabasas, California. This is the son of Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of rock star Elvis Presley. Authorities are investigating whether it was a suicide as the body was shot.
Lisa Marie Presley’s representative confirmed the news and detailed that she is “devastated and completely heartbroken,” although “trying to stay strong” to care for her 11-year-old twins and older daughter, Riley.
“She adored Ben, he was the love of her life,” said the manager.
Benjamin Keough acted and devoted himself to music, earning a $ 5 million record deal with Universal in 2009. When asked about this musical production, Elvis Presley’s grandson clarified that his music “had nothing to do with his grandfather’s.”
On more than one occasion, Lisa Marie was mentioned about Benjamin’s physical resemblance to Elvis Presley, a detail in which she did not elaborate. In 2013 –in an interview with Huffington Post– he admitted Ben’s musical aspirations. “I’m going to let him decide when he wants to go out and do what he wants,” he said.
Elvis Presley marked several generations throughout the 20th century. His talent and drive motivated him to be called “the king of rock and roll”. Lisa Marie Presley was her only daughter, the result of her relationship with Priscilla Presley, from whom she separated in 1973.
