Jarmo Kekeleinen became the general manager of Columbus’ Blue Jackets in February 2013, making a new entry in the annals of NHL history: he became the first European to be confirmed in office. By performing cunning maneuvers and finding uncut diamonds, the Finn turned the humble team into a solid participant in the Stanley Cup. And yet – the fight for the title is still quite far. There is a lack of important links in the chain, which are essential if you want to switch from economic to business class. Therefore – as could have been predicted during the past season – both team goalkeepers are currently on the counter: Elvis Merzlikins and Jonas Korpisalo. And there is a good chance that the “Blue Jackets” will divorce one by the beginning of next season.
The Latvian and the Finn are on the market counter to see how appetite the leaders of other teams are. Because for one of the “ravens”, this mouthful can be irresistibly tempting. For example, maybe someone will be ready to part with his long-cherished center striker – because in return a goalkeeper is given, who can remove any doubts about the stability of this position for at least a couple of seasons. And the goalkeeper on the hockey team is the most important! But maybe Kekeleinen will have to reduce the requirements, because – both Merzlikin and Korpisalo have only one convincing season behind them, and to risk such conditions – it takes the clubs to get sick. Some general managers simply do not have it, for others – a cool mind is enough to see what will happen around.
Who – Merzlikkin or Korpisalo – will move to a new team?
