Elvis, Kjell Henning Bjørnestad | Hoping to break 16-year-old Elvis record:

The world record in Elvis singing lives on dangerously. For 50 hours, Norwegian Kjell Elvis will try to sing his way into Guinness’ record book.

OSLO (Nettavisen, NTB): Thursday morning at 8 was the kick-off at The Scotsman in Karl Johans gate in Oslo, where 52-year-old Kjell Elvis is scheduled to sing Elvis songs until Saturday at 11.

– I hope it will go the right way and that it will lead to victory. I know I’m starting to get a little “shaky”, but that’s how it is in the beginning before you can drive in, said Kjell Elvis – Kjell Henning Bjørnestad from Lyngdal – when Nettavisen visited the premises at 12 o’clock.

Bjørnestad says he finds his favorites in the Elvis repertoire from the 1960s and mentions “In the ghetto” and “Love me tender”.

Fear over-ignition

Already at 10 o’clock, manager Helge Johansen expressed concern that Kjell Elvis might open too hard.

– He is well underway and is standing and jumping and bouncing, Johansen told NTB and said it can be challenging to keep the cook for two days.

– I said he had to remember and not get completely over-ignited too soon. But he did not succeed when fans and journalists had turned up, and started with the karate kicks right away, says the manager.

– But over-ignition is my concern. He is not worried, Johansen adds.

Solidly prepared

The manager emphasizes that they have made careful preparations, and that Kjell Elvis is well equipped to make it through the next 50 hours.

– There has been no Elvis diet, so to speak, Johansen emphasizes, who adds that a doctor and nutritionist are also present.

If Kjell Elvis lasts the entire race, he will have broken the current record in Elvis singing in 43 hours, 11 minutes and 11 seconds. The record has stood for 16 years, and was set by German Thomas “Curtis” Gäthje.
