Cinema fans will have to be patient in 2021 as well, because the corona pandemic will continue to whirl around the start dates. Now the biopic about Elvis Presley (1935-1977) has also hit it. The film by Baz Luhrmann (58, “The Great Gatsby”) about the “King of Rock ‘n’ Roll” will not be shown on the big screen on November 5, 2021, as planned, but should only be shown on June 3, 2022 start up. That reports the US-Branchenseite “Variety”.
The reason for this is apparently scheduling problems. Accordingly, the film is currently being shot in Australia. The cameras should run for at least five weeks. Therefore, the planned release date could not have been met. The as yet untitled drama has been in production since March 2020. However, filming had to be interrupted because Tom Hanks (64) and his wife Rita Wilson (64) tested positive for the corona virus. Hanks plays Elvis’ manager Andrew “Colonel Tom” Parker (1909-1997). Presley is played by Austin Butler, 29.
