Elvira Öberg was 16th runner in the sprint, 1.13.6 behind gold medalist Denise Herrmann-Wick from Germany.
Instead of several races, she was isolated.
Expected team
This meant that the 23-year-old missed the pursuit start, the distance race and the single mixed relay.
Apart from little sister Öberg, the Swedish lineup is as expected: Linn Persson, Anna Magnusson and Hanna Öberg.
– It obviously means a lot. We all know how strong Elvira is and how important she is to our relay team, says national team captain Johannes Lukas at a press conference.
“We have missed her”
Hanna Öberg agrees.
– I think it feels great that she takes this opportunity and that she feels good enough to start. We have missed her on the starting line, she tells SVT Sport.

Also on the men’s side, the Swedish team is what was expected: Peppe Femling, Martin Ponsiluoma, Jesper Nelin and Sebastian Samuelsson.
– We have four skaters who have a lot of experience from championships and we think that is important, says the federation captain Johannes Lukas to SVT Sport regarding the men’s squad.
