On the evening of July 8, the last concert of the farewell world tour of the legendary British musician Elton John took place at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm. It was called Goodbye Yellow Brick Road – after one of his most famous songs, and it was with it that he closed his performance.
“It was 52 years of pure joy. If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be here. You bought my records, you bought tickets for my performances. You have been a source of life-giving force for me, you are simply amazing!” he said in his farewell speech, addressing not only 45,000 listeners, but many millions of his fans.
The 76-year-old musician also said that the tour would indeed be his last, but said that he did not rule out the possibility of one-time concerts. He also thanked his entire team, calling them the best in the world.
Elton John’s world tour began in 2018 but was suspended for two years due to the pandemic. During the tour, he played 330 concerts, and over his entire career – about 4600. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is already recognized as the most profitable tour in history, with tickets sold for a total of $ 900 million.
