Elton John’s ex-wife claims over £ 3 million for biography and film | NOW

Renate Blauel, the ex-wife of Elton John, demands £ 3 million (about € 3.3 million) from her former husband. John wrote about her in his biography Me and she can also be seen as a character in the film biography Rocketman. This, according to Blauel, violates the terms of their divorce, reports BBC News Friday.

John and Blauel were married from 1984 to 1988. When they broke up in 1988, Blauel had the terms stipulate that no details about their marriage would be released. She believes that John violated this condition by dedicating eight pages in his biography to her. In the movie, Blauel is played by Celinde Schoenmaker. The Dutch actress is in a few minutes Rocketman to see.

Blauel says that her mental problems came back through the passages in the book and parts of the film. She also thinks that the way in which their marriage is described is not consistent with reality.

Some requests to extract passages from the book were granted. However, she also wanted to get rid of the play in which John says she never intended to start a family with her. This request was rejected.

John’s team denies breach of contract

John’s legal team acknowledges the existence of the agreement, but does not believe the agreements were violated with the film and book. Nor would it have caused any psychological damage. The singer has previously said in interviews that he regrets the grief he caused her with the marriage and the divorce.

John released his autobiography in 2019. The film was released the same year Rocketman, in which actor Taron Egerton plays the singer.

John had a relationship with David Furnish in 1993. The two entered into a registered partnership in 2005 and tied the knot in 2014. In that year, marriage was opened to same-sex couples in England and Wales. The couple have two sons.
