“I have over 120,000 CDs and 15,000 vinyl records,” Elton tells Goldmine. “They’re on shelves in my house so I can get what I want when I want it.”

He has a clear preference for what the singer takes off the shelf. “I absolutely prefer LPs.”

Besides spinning music, Elton also spends a lot of time with his family. Because the singer wanted to be at home more often, he decided to stop touring. “I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity for the last 50 years to do what I love so much.”

Because of his two sons, Elton has come to appreciate more what he has been through. “They have helped me to focus on the present and certainly appreciate my past.”
