Elsa back to hurricane force as it approaches Florida | Abroad

Elsa is currently about 165 kilometers southwest of Tampa and has been attracted to a Category 1 hurricane, with winds of around 120 kilometers per hour. The foothills of the hurricane already caused nuisance in Key West on Tuesday morning, where streets were flooded. Elsa also threatens to obstruct the salvage operation at the collapsed apartment building in Surfside, near Miami.

The hurricane last week caused extensive damage and three deaths in Caribbean island states east of Cuba. Government officials estimate the damage in St. Lucia at more than 12 million dollars (10.1 million euros), for Jamaica the counter stands at 5.3 million dollars.
