EL NUEVO DIARIO, CHICAGO.- White Sox general manager Rich Hahn explained Thursday that Eloy Jiménez is experiencing “normal leg pain” in the midst of his rehab assignment at Triple-A Charlotte. But with the 20-day rehab time limit set to expire in a week, according to Hahn, the team has pushed him aside.
You must be seated until Sunday, serving a mandatory period of five days after the transaction. However, the White Sox hope he can resume his rehab next Tuesday.
“I wouldn’t call it a relapse, but it has set us back a little bit,” Hahn said. “Originally we hoped it would be over in those 20 days, but that won’t happen now.”
“But it is neither a new injury nor a worsening of the one he has. It is part of the process. A process that has delayed us a bit. It shouldn’t have any effect on long-term plans other than seeing his return to Chicago delayed.”
If Jimenez returns to Charlotte, it could be a week or 10 days before he’s ready to join the White Sox. If he returns to Triple-A after Tuesday, then the Dominican will have to take more at-bats to get the rhythm.
“A couple of days ago, after his most recent game, Eloy was saying he was feeling fine,” Hahn said. “The only problem has been his pace at the plate. Hopefully we’ll have him back over there next week and he can continue to build on his progress.”
