President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) wore a shirt when he met Elon Musk, who was wearing a t-shirt. Special Staff to the Minister of State Secretariat, Faldo Maldini, asked the public not to compare the clothes of the two when they met.
“I think it’s too trivial to talk about clothes for such an important issue. It’s actually good, the hosts are themselves, as they live their normal lives. The conversations became friendly and relaxed, more heart-to-heart. This is actually President Jokowi’s greatness, speaking without distance,” Faldo said in his statement, Monday (16/5/2022).
Then, Faldo talked about dress protocol during official meetings. If the meeting is casual and informal, Jokowi has also worn T-shirts and jackets.
“In official state and diplomatic meetings, there is already a protocol, G to G. If there is no binding protocol, President Jokowi has also used T-shirts, jackets, hoodieor jeans. I think there are all the standards,” he said.
Faldo again reminded the public to focus on the substance of the meeting. The meeting discussed the application of technology.
“We think we need to focus on the substance. The meeting with Elon Musk is certainly about strengthening technology, which is also the government’s focus. We need to strengthen collaboration with the main players to respond to an increasingly dynamic world,” he said.
It is known that the meeting between Jokowi and Elon Musk occurred when Jokowi visited the Stargate SpaceX building in Boca Chica, United States. The visit was carried out on Saturday (14/5/2022). The moment of this visit was uploaded to the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube account.
Elon wears a black shirt which is a Space X merchandise. Meanwhile, Jokowi wears a long-sleeved white shirt that is his trademark. The presidential pin on the left chest is enough of an official sign of him.
