Liputan6.com, Jakarta – A company-owned rocket Elon Musk, SpaceX, is reportedly about to crash and explode on the Moon. The rocket in question is called the Falcon 9 booster which was launched in 2015 and has completed its mission.
However, after completing the mission, this rocket did not have enough fuel to return to Earth and instead remained in space.
Citing reports BBC, Friday (1/28/2022), astronomer Jonathan McDowell said, this event will be the first uncontrolled rocket collision with the Moon. Even so, according to him, the impact of this collision is quite small.
Crash Falcon 9 rocket with the Moon is reported to occur on March 4, 2022, when the rocket will explode on contact with the lunar surface.
For your information, the rocket was left in high orbit seven years ago, after completing a mission to send a space weather satellite. This rocket travels up to millions of miles.
Falcon 9 is part of the space exploration program of SpaceX, a commercial rocket company whose goal was from the start to allow humans to live on other planets.
Since 2015, this rocket is being pulled by a different gravitational force from Earth, Month, and the Sun so that the path is not chaotic.
“(This rocket) is dead, just (moving) following the laws of gravity,” said McDowell, who works at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in the US.
