Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The social media platform Elon Musk’s subordinates finally spoke out in response to European officials’ threats to Twitter X.

The European Commissioner for the internal market, Thierry Breton, previously sent the warning directly in a letter to Elon Musk. He stated that there were indications that several groups were spreading fake news as well as violent and terrorist content on X. Musk was asked to respond within 24 hours.

Breton included his letter in X by directly mentioning Musk’s account. He included the hashtag Digital Services Act, a new law in Europe that requires platforms with monthly active users exceeding 45 million to monitor and remove illegal content. If they violate, Twitter X faces a fine of 6 percent of their gross annual revenue.

In a letter sent via X, he stated that X had “formed a team to assess the situation” immediately after the Hamas attack on Israel. Yaccarino claims X has “identified and removed hundreds of Hamas-affiliated accounts.”

He also described X’s policies regarding hate speech, manipulated media and violence. “There is no place at X for terrorist organizations or extremist groups and we continue to remove related accounts in real-time, including proactively,” Yaccarino said.
