Elon Musk’s Rebranding of Twitter: New Logo and Name Change to X Corp

AGI – No more bird, just an ‘X’: the logo chosen by Elon Musk for his new adventure is now also online on the social network site. However, the web address remained the same.

The little bird has been Twitter’s trademark for over a decade and has also shaped the language associated with the social network (the messages were often called ‘chirps’). Musk had announced the news in the night between Saturday and Sunday, announcing that – if his designers had developed a logo that satisfied him – the announcement would have been published today.

And so it was. Thus begins the rebranding of the company (which according to the CEO, Linda Yaccarino, will also be driven by artificial intelligence). Musk is trying to relaunch the company which, in recent months, after the purchase by the imaginative billionaire, has lost a lot of publicity.

Musk’s latest moves

After buying Twitter last year for $44 billion, Musk has changed the company name to “X Corp” in April 2023, and regularly cites its nebulous plans to turn it into a multifaceted, financial-services application like WeChat in China. In response to a question from an Internet user who asked if Twitter would be accessible from the address x.com, Elon Musk replied: “Of course”.

X.com was the name and website of the online bank founded by the businessmanwhich later became the online payment service PayPal. This name change would come at a difficult time for Twitter, with Elon Musk having fired about half of its staff and with advertising revenues having fallen by half, according to figures provided by the owner himself. The social network faces a plethora of competing applications, including newcomer Threads, launched by Meta. Finally, Musk also indicated that the tweets will be called X after the name change.
