He’s going strong this time.
It’s been nearly two years since Elon Musk acquired Twitter and renamed the social network X, and now the eccentric entrepreneur is at the center of yet another controversy. This time, he’s suing the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM), the global alliance of advertisers, which includes CVS Health, Mars, Orsted and Unilever, among others.
His reason for accusation? According to him, this federation would act in an unfair and illegal manner by boycotting X’s advertisements. Far from handling the matter discreetly, the billionaire had this news announced to the general director of X, Linda Yaccarinoon… his social network, unsurprisingly.

Yes, this is the same Elon who challenged advertisers a few months ago, telling them not to advertise on his network. Except that’s exactly what they did, and Musk may be a billionaire, but he may not want to fund his network out of his own pocket indefinitely. Not to mention that it’s hard to imagine how this measure would work, since getting attacked is unlikely to make any advertiser want to buy ad space on the network. It’s already losing momentum.
And if, legally, Elon Musk has, a priori, no chance of winning, he knows that he can do a lot of harm to GARM. Firstly because the public will only believe what it wants to believe, but also because a trial of this magnitude is expensive, even when the defendant is innocent.
