Elon Musk’s Neuralink Moves Legal Headquarters to Texas Amid Tesla’s Legal Battles

American billionaire Elon Musk’s company Neuralink has moved its legal headquarters from the state of Delaware to the state of Texas. The news comes about a week after Musk announced that he wants to move the legal headquarters of electric car maker Tesla from Delaware to Texas and that he will put the move to a vote by the automaker’s shareholders.

Musk’s plan to change the legal seat of Tesla was preceded by the verdict of a court in Delaware, which annulled the agreement from 2018, according to which Musk, as the director of Tesla, should have received a record 55.8 billion dollars in rewards, i.e. roughly 1.3 trillion CZK, if the set goals were met. The lawsuit was filed by a shareholder, according to whom the remuneration was excessive. “Never establish your company’s legal headquarters in the state of Delaware,” Musk wrote on the X network after the court’s verdict.

However, changing Tesla’s legal domicile could face obstacles. For example, legal experts believe that the plan is almost certain to become the target of a lawsuit from investors, especially if it is seen as a move by which Musk wants to secure his reward rather than ensure any benefit to the company.

The company Neuralink is engaged in the development of brain chips. In late January, Musk announced that the company had implanted a brain chip in the first human. He added that the patient is doing well and initial results are promising. Last year, Neuralink received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the first human clinical trial. The chips are intended to enable affected patients to move and communicate again.

Musk is currently the richest person in the world. According to the index of billionaires compiled by the Bloomberg agency, the current value of his assets reaches 209 billion dollars, about 4.9 trillion CZK.
